Partly a photographic research project, partly an artistic body of work. Static Motion looks on how photography have been used to teach and illustrate the subject of motion.

During the research process flipping through “How to - manuals” of various kinds - a reoccurring phenomena appeared. A single photographic frame seemed to be insufficient for the task of illustrating motion. Authors had to use workarounds such as serial photography, double exposures, and illustrations to better fulfill their aim.
Presented is a selection of sources and found material in the process.
