Partly a photographic research project, partly an artistic body of work. Static Motion looks on how photography have been used to teach and illustrate the subject of motion.

During the research process flipping through “How to - manuals” of various kinds - a reoccurring phenomena appeared. A single photographic frame seemed to be insufficient for the task of illustrating motion. Authors had to use workarounds such as serial photography, double exposures, and illustrations to better fulfill their aim.
The artistic body of work is based on the findings from the research process. Highlighting the difficulties of illustrating motion through a static medium.

Presented is a selection of sources, archive and body of work produced.
